Class Redlands (Locobase 16237)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volume 14, p. 242; and SP Menke All-Time Steam Locomotive Diagrams supplied in May 2005 by Allen Stanley from his extensive Raildata collection. Works number was 9746 in January 1889.

The original 1888 specs show a very similar steam dummy intended to run on the 25 lb/yard (12.5kg/metre) rail. It burned coal and had 54 tubes in the boiler. The data show the 2 as rebuilt after a December 1891 fire. Renumbered 1, it now burned oil.

Leased in 1892 by the Southern Pacific as a car service dummy, the 1 operated until 1916.
