Class 1 (Locobase 16141)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 15, p. 53. Works numbers were 9990-9991 in May 1889.

The 1 was sold in 1897 to Norfolk, Virginia Beach & Southern as their #6. When the NVB&S was incorporated into the Norfolk & Southern in 1899, the 6 was renumbered 26 and placed in the N&S's class B-4. It remained on the N&S until its retirement in October 1925.

The 2 was sold to the Palmer Stave Company in New Hampshire. Its last known operator was the New Hampshire Stave & Heading Mill at least until 1923.

NB: Locobase 11579 describes an Atlantic & Danville trio of locomotives with identical firebox dimensions (69 7/16" long, 34 3/8" wide, 65 1/2" deep in front, 64 1/2" deep in back). Locobase bases his estimate of the P&CA pair's firebox heating surface area on the known quantity given in Locobase 11579.)


Class 6 (Locobase 13125)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volume 36, p. 54. Works number was 36171 in February 1911.

This little American is fondly remembered by those who rode the C&PA; see Locobase 13124 for a brief description of this northwest Pennsylvania common carrier.

The 6 served the line until 1946.

NB: The DeGolyer catalogue showed the specs as residing in Volume 46. It wasn't until Locobase thought of looking into volumes by date of order that I found their error.
