Norfolk, Albemarle & Atlantic 4-4-0 "American" Locomotives of the USA

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 8 (Locobase 12106)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Vol 19, p. 108. Works number was 14019 in May.

Not exactly "stock", but certainly this little Eight-wheeler design could almost assemble itself as it had served several other narrow-gauge railroads. This particular locomotive first operated on the NA & A briefly, but that railroad always struggled and was reorganized in 1896 as the Norfolk, Virginia Beach & Southern. In 1898, conversion to standard gauge was complete and the little engine was sold to Gray Lumber Company.
