Tremont & Gulf 4-4-0 "American" Locomotives of the USA

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 50 (Locobase 12894)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 41, p. 200. (Thanks to Chris Hohl for his 20 April 2015 email reporting the tender's fuel capacity.) Works number was 38054 in July 1912.

In the specifications for this Eight-wheeler, the M&NA is given as the railroad that ordered the engine just months after an earlier #1 was diverted to the Missouri & North Arkansas as their 23 (Locobase 13268). But apparently because the railroad had taken advantage of the earlier engine's availability, the second 1 was sold to the Tremont & Gulf as their #50.

The T&G held onto the locomotive until the year matched the road number in 1950.
