Greenleaf Johnson Lumber Company 2-8-0 "Consolidation" Locomotives of the USA

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 10 (Locobase 13954)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 43, p 269. Works number was 38972 in December 1912.

Greenleaf Johnson's second new purchase from Baldwin was a Consolidation with a slightly larger boiler and grate and one more driven axle than the 2-6-0 that went into service in 1906 (Locobase 13005).

It's not clear if Greenleaf Johnson was simply renamed Greenleaf Hollister; in any case, the 10 was renumbered as 1. The latter owner disposed of the 10 in 1916 by selling it to the Dismal Swamp railway as their #1. Dismal Swamp later sold the 1 to the Richmond Cedar Works.
