Arizona Lumber and Timber Company of Flagstaff, Ariz bought the 25 for Greenlaw (based in Cliff, Ariz). The two entities' headquarters towns were not far apart and their railroad headed north to harvest timber near Doney Hill, the San Francisco range, and Sunset Crater. The NPS Documentation claims that the "Kaibab and the Coconino National Forests are part of the largest expanse of ponderosa pine in the world." It stretched in a belt 400 miles (644 km) long by as much as 60 miles (97 km) wide.
The Documentation adds that "timber barons" built more than 770 miles (1,240 km) of rail line to ensur e that "[a]lmost no virgin stand proved safe from the whistle of the locomotive."
The "2-spot" operated for Greenlaw for 14 years before being sold to the Central Arizona. Later it worked for the Saginaw & Manistee, which operated in Arizona in spite of its Michigan names.
A much later photograph of the preserved locomotive shows a rather oversized boiler on small drivers.
