Class 26 (Locobase 11759)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Vol 9, p. 167 adn 10a, p. 236.. Baldwin works numbers were 4813, 4815 in October 1879 and 6021 in January 1882.

This was one of a few railroads that also operated a steamship line. (The Southern Pacific and Canadian Pacific were two other North American examples.) It was brought into the Southern Pacific system two years after Collis Huntington bought the Texas & New Orleans and Louisiana & Western railroads.

With that, these suburban tanks were renumbered and given the class designation of W. 526 was rebuilt as an 0-4-0T and retained until scrapped in 1937. 527 was sold in July 1916 to J B Levert Land Company of Metairie, La. 537 was scrapped in December 1923.
