Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class B-12 (Locobase 16304)

Data from DeGolyer, Volume 30, p. 84; and NdeM 1950 Locomotive Diagrams Standard Gauge supplied in August 2013 by Allen Stanley from his extensive Rail Data Exchange collection. Alco's Brooks works built the first eight switchers in 1902; they had works numbers 26676-26683 in August 1902. Baldwin added ten more in 1907 with works numbers 31828-31829 in September 1907; and 31878, 31938-31939, 31963-31964, 31990, 32011 in October.

Baldwin delivered oil burners so the grates had an ashpan open only at the back. Like most such installations, these switchers mounted in the front of the firebox. Fire bricks lined the firebox. 50" drivers and tender capacities probably allowed for some transfer jobs.
