Class 3 (Locobase 13496)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volume 30 and Volume 36, p. 113, Volume 65, pp. 182+. Works numbers were 33026 in November 1908, 35080 in August 1910, 53257-53258 in May 1920, and 54325 in January 1921.

A much bigger logger than the saddle tank delivered a year before (Locobase 13180), the 3 rolled on a wheel arrangement rarely used in North America, particularly set up as a tender engine. Its roadbed held 56-60-lb/yard (28-30 kg/metre) rail and a note on a later order explained that the class would be "run as much backward as forward". Its sister arrived two years later, followed ten years later by the 2nd 1-2, and eight months after that by the second #3.

After the 3's delivery, a 12/12/08 note commented: "Curves are 46 degrees [!] on which the engine operates after being altered by Engr. Jackson."

4 operated on the Timber Railroad of the Mengel empire near Hickman, Ky. Its sale to Island Logging Company of Duncan, British Columbia as their #1 was followed in 1924 by that company's disposal of the 3 to locomotive rebuilder/reseller Southern Iron & Equipment in 1924. SI & E found a ready buyer in Jacksonville, Fla in the form of LeMacks Cannon Lumber.

Gene Connelly's list does not account for the second 1 & 2, but notes that the second 3 was sold to Georgia Car & Locomotive in 1928, who recycled it to Woodward Walker Lumber of Heflin, La in May 1928. WWL quickly sold the engine to Melton Lumber of Newllton, La in August of the same year as their #1.
