Class 26 (Locobase 15341)

Data from DeGolyer, Volume 77, pp. 790+. Works number was 59532 in September 1926.

The GN&A linked Ashdown, Arkansas's junction with the Frisco with the Missouri Pacific and Murfreesboro, Nashville & Southwestern at Nashville. Piston valves measuring 9 1/2" (241 mm) admitted steam to the cylinders. Its Vanderbilt tender had a cubic coal bunker ahead of the cylindrical water tank.

The 26 continued to serve the GN&A until the line converted to diesels in 1951. It then went to the more grandly named Nebraska Kansas Railroad in Superior, Neb. After that line sidetracked it in 1958, it was bought by W Calgren for display in Concordia, Kan in 1960.

By 1973, the 26 had been moved to Union, IL, where it joined the Illinois Railroad Museum roster. Long-standing plans to repair the firebox remained unfunded.
