Class H5 (Locobase 9898)

Data from DeGolyer, Volume 22, p. 29. See also WAB 1907 Locomotive Diagrams book supplied in May 2005 by Allen Stanley from his extensive Rail Data Exchange. Works numbers were 16426-16430 in December 1898.

This small, relatively lightweight class adopted the Wabash's numbers when that railroad absorbed the O & St L in 1901. It's not clear to Locobase whether this class was delivered with the 240 tubes shown in the order spec, but by 1907, they had the 247 shown in this entry.

260 was scrapped first in 1920, 261 followed in June 1921, 257 in December 1926, 258 in 1928, and 259 in December 1931, more than 11 years after the first of the class.
