Class 1 (Locobase 14067)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Vol 45, p. 166. Works number was 40860 in November 1913.

Contrary to what one might expect, the Atlantic in this shortline's name referred to its home city in Iowa. The specs depict a lightly built road from Atlantic to Kimballton consisting of 56 lb/yard (28 kg/metre) rail making up "very rough" track, 20 degree curves, and 2% grades over the 18 miles of line located east of Omaha, Nebraska.

The IaGenweb Project reports on a photograph from Kimballton on the day the AN "arrived" as required under the 1907 incorporation, noting that its fulfillment of the terms was made possible by an emergency extension of Kimballton's city limits toward Elk Horn at the last minute. After serving local farmers for about 30 years, the AN closed in 1936.
