Central Branch of the Union Pacific 2-6-0 "Mogul" Locomotives of the USA

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 1000 (Locobase 10045)

Data from MP 1924 Locomotive Diagrams supplied in May 2005 by Allen Stanley from his extensive Raildata collection. See also DeGolyer, Volume 12, p. 105. Works numbers were 7681-7682, 7687, 7698-7699 in October 1885.

This Mogul quintet was built at the same time as the Missouri Pacific locomotives shown in Locobase 7718. The Central Branch was built to take advantage of generous land grants secured through Congress in the late 1860s in central Kansas. In 1909, the CB was absorbed by the Missouri Pacific. The five engines all entered class M-51 and took the last five 3600 numbers in this large group.
