Class 10 (Locobase 12716)

Data from DeGolyer, Volume 27, p. 123 and Volume 30, p. 243. Works numbers were 24739 in September 1904 and 31175 in June 1907.

The narrow-gauge CG & P had long since abandoned its plans to build a line upriver to Portsmouth by the time it bought this pair of Moguls. Along the way, the earlier manifestation of this line had built a tall (110 feet) and long (1,410 feet) trestle across a ravine to reach Georgetown.

By 1904, however, a later board of directors had teamed up with the Tennis Railway Company to electrify the line and convert it to standard gauge. So passenger travel used electric interurban motors and freight used both electric and steam motive power. It eventually reached Russellville and threw off several branch lines as well to accumulate a total line mileage of 42 miles.

In 1925, after the entire line was electrified, the 12 moved on to the Evansville Suburban & Newburgh Railway as their #6. 10 was purchased by locomotive rebuilder/reseller Birmingham Rail & Locomotive in 1917. BR & L sold it to Ball & Peters as #697 and B & P sold it to the ES & N. After another tour through BR & L, the engine up with Horse Shoe Lumber Company of River Falls, Ala..
