Class 8 (Locobase 13896)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volumer 45, p 16. Works number was 40949 in December 1913.

The CRB & LC ceased common carrier operation in 1928, but remained in use as a logging road for decades. The 8 was sold in 1936 to Birmingham Rail & Locomotive, which sold it back to the CRB & LC for scrapping at Richwood.


Class 9 (Locobase 13897)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volumer 53, p 12. Works number was 44502 in December 1916.

A virtual repeat of the #8 that Baldwin delivered in 1913, the 9 used cylinders with 1" greater diameter. After 13 years on the CRB & LC, the 9 took an unusual path away, then back to the CRB & LC. First, the 9 was sold to locomotive rebuilder/reseller Southern Iron & Equipment. SI & E sent it along to another rebuilder/reseller Georgia Car & Locomotive. GC & L sold the engine to Pine Mountain Granite Company of Lithonia, Ga, which gave it #6. After a year, however, PMG sold it back to GC & L, which sold the 6 to yet another rebuilder/reseller, Birmingham Rail & Locomotive. BR & L delivered it back to the CRB & LC, where it regained the number 9.
