Class 6 (Locobase 12740)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Vol 27, p. 172. Works numbers were 24931 in December 1904 and 37270 in November 1911.

Very small Moguls that served the Goldsboro Lumber Company on its 24.8-mile line between Dover, NC and Richlands. The 8 was delivered with a 55,000-lb tender that carried 2,500 US gallons.

6 was later sold to the W D Alderman & Sons. 8 remained with the D & SB until it was abandoned in January 1931.


Class 9 (Locobase 14703)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Vol 62, p. 341 Works number was 52985 in February 1920.

When Goldsboro returned to Baldwin for another logging Mogul to operate on its North Carolina shortline, it specified a larger locomotive (although still quite small by most standards). The 9 also sported outside radial valve gear in place of the inside link motion.
