Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 25 (Locobase 14338)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Vol 53, pp. 314. See also John Opie, Ogallala: Water for a Dry Land (University of Nebraska Press, 2000), pp. 77-79. Works number was 42480 in September 1915.

The Garden City Sugar and Land Company was incorporated in Western Kansas to support a big sugar-beet growing and harvesting area. To lay the Garden City Western, the GCSLC used the material (rails, ties, fastenings) assembled to build the Nebraska, Kansas and Southern Railway, which never actually entered service. The GCW ran 14 miles .

The 25 had a long quiet career on the GCW before being donated to the City of Garden City in April 1955.
