Class 5 (Locobase 11482)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines, 1903, as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Vol 26, p. 278. Works number was 23934 in March 1904.

This relatively Mogul served the G & U mostly at night in transfer service on that central Massachusetts road. The G & U an electrified interurban line with a busy passenger schedule during the day.

In 1920, #5 was sold to locomotive rebuilder General Equipment, who found a willing buyer in the Rahway Valley (of New Jersey), which renumbered it 11.

The RV, a prosperous shortline that made money even during the Depression (according to the historical website http://www.trainsarefun.com/rvrr/rvrrhistory.htm#overview ) operated the 11 for almost 2 more decades before scrapping int in 1937.
