Kanawha & Coal River 2-6-0 "Mogul" Locomotives of the USA

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class D A Nease (Locobase 12942)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Vol 28, p. 269. Works number was 29615 in November 1906.

Locobase presents the specifications of this engine as delivered, but the D A Nease did not long remain a Mogul. In 1907, its owners -- Black Band Coal & Coke Company -- had locomotive rebuilder/reseller Hicks rebuild the engine as a 2-8-0 Consolidation with 18" cylinders. At the time, the K & CR operated 20 miles of track.
