Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 5 (Locobase 12971)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Vol 29, p. 86. Works number was 28149 in May 1906.

As noted in several other Locobase entries, this exact design was a Baldwin off-the-shelf solution for operations on standard-gauge logging roads throughout the South. In the present engine's instance, it was a Florida company based in Lakewood in northern Florida that needed a small, wood-burning double-ender.
