Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 20 (Locobase 14162)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 48, p. 301. See also Mississippi Rails' entry on the Tall Timber at http://www.msrailroads.com/Tall_Timber_Lbr.htm . Works number was 40277 in July 1913.

William Buchanan's many lumber interests included the last of three sawmills to be built in the Jena area near Good Pine, Louisiana. This logging Prairie was bought new at a cost of $11,100. It was identical to the Good Pine #6 (Locobase 12938), which was delivered in 1912. When the Tall Timber stands played out in the 1920s, the 20 moved over to Buchanan's Trout Creek Lumber by March 1927.
