Class 2 (Locobase 14976)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volume 65, pp. 336+. Works number was 53341 in June 1920.

This Oregon timber harvester operated in the Wind River Valley (go figure) and used locomotives like this logging Prairie tank to haul the fallen trees to the mill. The tram roads over which the 2 traveled was laid with 35-40 lb/yard (17.5-20 kg). Maximum grades soared to 5% and curves bent as tightly as 25 degrees (radii of 231 feet/70.4 metres). A "Hereafter" note suggested "Raising question about making cylinder 13 1/2" diameter and working pressure 175 pounds as originally specified." According to another note in the specs, the company shrugged, accepted the 14" cylinders, and asked the builder to set the safety valves at 165 pounds.

The 2 would later be sold to Spaulding Pulp & Paper Company.
