Class 3 (Locobase 13700)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volume36, .Works number was 25504 in April 1905.

The R & C was a little logging road with 3% grades and 10-degree curves that was bought from W C Petty in 1906. It linked Carthage, NC with Hallison, 8 1/2 miles away. While it was still a railroad, the R & C bought this small wood-burner from Baldwin. In the same year, it reorganized as a railway and extended itself from Hallison to McConnell (home of one of the investors).

The railway operated only another dozen years before it was sold at auction in 1924. The Moore Central, which ran from Carthage to Cameron, rose out of the ashes by abandoning a 2-mile stretch, picked up the now-orphaned 3, renumbered it 2, and ran it for decades longer. The railway and its successor railroad were never profitable
