Tonopah & Tidewater 4-6-0 "Ten-wheeler" Locomotives of the USA

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 9 (Locobase 13232)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volume 31, p. 100. Works numbers were 32292-32293 in November 1907.

Locobase 8389 describes the 25-engine class delivered to the Atlanta, Birmingham & Atlantic beginning in 1904. The last delivery of this design came in August 1907. The identicality (?) of the T & T's two Ten-wheelers shown in the current entry suggests that Baldwin reused the AB & A drawings for a very different setting.

Whatever their origins, the pair served the Nevada line until it closed in 1942. Morrison Knudson bought both locomotives and scrapped them.
